Propagation of two Acroporid corals within the White River Fish Sanctuary

Project Aim

  • To conduct 10 theory workshops to educate 20 fishers on the concept and importance of coral gardening.
  • Facilitate two practical workshops where divers will learn and participate in nursery construction and cleaning, as well as out coral planting method (s).
  • To seed coral nurseries with 2000 coral fragments.
  • Create a coral gardening manual for future training sessions. 

Project Outcomes

  • Nurseries have been seeded with 400 Acropora palmata and 1600 Acropora cervicornis fragments.
  • Soft copy of coral gardening manual made available for participants for future use.
